We need to reinstall RikiTikiWiki© on our new computer, how do we transfer our current data and program settings from our old computer?
Follow these steps:
- Copy the database files from your current install folder (usually c:\Program files\RikiTikiWiki) to a backup folder or removable media (floppy disk, USB drive, etc) :
- rikitiki.db3 = database
- Install RikiTikiWiki© onto your new computer from the original installation CD.
- Copy the files from the floppy created in step 1 to the install folder in your new computer.
- Download and install the latest update patch from the website.
Does RikiTikiWiki© run on 64-bit Windows 7?
Yes.
All versions of 64-bit Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1) are able to run 32-bit programs seamlessly through WOW64 which is provided with the operating system and does not have to be explicitly enabled. In other words, it's 100% automatic. (Ref: Microsoft)
According to Microsoft, 32-bit software running under WOW64 has a similar performance when executing under 32-bit Windows. (Ref: Microsoft)
Troubleshooting RikiTikiWiki© error messages
Unable to compact db (VACUUM has no effect in DISQLite3 Personal)
VACUUM defragments your database, decreasing file size and increasing performance.
VACUUM should be performed on a routine basis (monthly) to maintain database health.
Unfortunately the free version of the DISQLite component does not support the VACUUM
functionality. You will need to use a 3rd party tool. I recommend SQLiteStudio© from SalSoft (free).
