Before you use the program, check the default parameters by viewing the Setup window. To start setup, click on the File drop down menu and click Setup, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S .
Database directory - this usually should not be changed unless you manually change the location of your database files.
Default $ Savings - this is the default dollar amount that appears on the pharmaceutical care plan. It indicates the average savings that are to be expected from your Kinetic intervention.
Height/weight system - choose the default height/weight measurement system used in your practice, metric (cm/kg) or US (in/lbs).
Creatinine system - choose the default creatinine measurement system used in your practice, metric (SI units) or US (mg %).
Creatinine clearance method - You may choose which method the program uses to calculate creatinine clearance. The Cockroft & Gault equation is adequate for most patients with normal muscle mass and serum creatinine less than 5 mg/dL. Jelliffe's method is useful for estimating creatinine clearance in patients with unstable renal function. See the renally excreted drugs section for specific formula's used.
Print ideal dose - The doses calculated by the computer are not practical, and may be confusing to those who read the consult form. Select "Yes" to have the computer calculated ideal dose printed on your consult form, or "No" to suppress this information from your consult forms.
Save - click this button to save your setup changes.
Exit - click this button to exit setup WITHOUT saving changes.
