Understanding the database navigation bar is the key to accessing the patient database. Holding the mouse pointer over each of the buttons will cause a tool tip to display the function of the button.

Icon	Description
	Add a new patient Keyboard shortcut = Alt+A To enter a new patient, click the add button (+) on the database navigation bar.
	Cancel add To cancel entry of a new patient, click the cancel button (x) on the database navigation bar.
	Save add Although you can click the save button (diskette) to save new patient data, it is not a necessary step. The program will automatically save the patient data when you click on any of the tabs or the toolbar buttons.
	First patient Keyboard shortcut = Alt+1 Patients in the database are sorted by the order in which they were entered into the database. Clicking this button will jump to the first patient in the database.
	Previous patient Keyboard shortcut = Alt+B Jump to the first previous in the database.
	Next patient Keyboard shortcut = Alt+N Jump to the first next in the database.
	Last patient Keyboard shortcut = Alt+E Jump to the last patient in the database.
	Find patient To retrieve a specific patient from the database, click on the binoculars to bring up the Find dialog box.
	Find next match Searches forward in the database for the next matching patient.
	Find previous match Searches backwards in the database for the previous matching patient.

Discharge a patient

There is no discharge icon or keyboard shortcut. To discharge a patient, click on the File drop down menu and click Discharge patient. This will permanently delete the currently displayed patient.
